The Akwa Ibom State Primary Healthcare Development Agency was established by the Law of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (No. 3 of 2017). Vested with the powers of this Law, the Akwa Ibom State Government officially inaugurated the pioneer Governing Board of Akwa Ibom State Primary Healthcare Development Agency on the 5th of September 2018, appointing Dr. Martin Akpan as the board Chairman. This signalled the commencement of the implementation of Primary Health Care Under One Roof (PHCUOR) in the state. The Executive Secretary/CEO of the AKSPHCDA is Dr.(Mrs.) Eno Attah.

There are 6 departments of the Agency with heads of departments making up the management staff who report directly to the Executive Secretary. The Akwa Ibom State Primary Healthcare Development Agency is a parastatal of the State Ministry of Health.

STATUTORY RESPONSIBILITY

The Agency has the primary responsibility of streamlining, realigning and repositioning healthcare delivery at the grassroots level while ensuring that the general populace of Akwa Ibom State has access to affordable and equitable primary healthcare services.

To ensure access to affordable and equitable primary healthcare services to the people of Akwa Ibom State.

MISSION

To promote and implement sustainable, high quality and affordable primary healthcare services in Akwa Ibom State through partnership, collaboration, resource mobilization, development of community-based systems and functional primary healthcare infrastructure.
